photography
When I started taking photos of my books and paperfolds for Instagram, my first reason was to showcase my work to other bookbinders and paper artists internationally and to build my network. It unexpectedly turned into something very special for me.
The staging and lighting of my work for photos was inspiring and opened up a very special artistic space for me.
My photos emphasise the translucency and folds of the paper in such a way that they often detach themselves from the object and the photos themselves become a creative work
Sometimes I only begin to grasp a form, a structure or a figure when I have staged natural phenomena, materials or plays of light in order to capture them photographically. Sometimes it’s almost as if I’m discovering the beauty and structure in them for the first time, even though these things surround me every day. As a result, my work is not only inspiration for photos, but my photos also inspire me to come up with new ideas for creating something with paper.
All of my artistic works reflect the phenomena, patterns and structures found in nature. Light and shadow.
Geometric wonders that nature simply produces. Like my folds, I showcase them artistically in my photographic work.
